St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital announces the opening of the Wound Healing Center
On January 13, St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital opened its new Wound Healing Center. St. Anthony’s recently expanded its wound care services with the assistance of Diversified Clinical Services to provide an outpatient wound care option to the community. Diversified Clinical Services is the market leader in the clinical treatment of chronic wounds and the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Located on the second floor of the Effingham Medical Center, Suite 203, St. Anthony’s Wound Healing Center specializes in the treatment of problem wounds, a growing problem spurred by the aging of America and the increase in diabetes. Approximately 18.5 million Americans have diabetes, and of that population about 1.8 million will suffer from a problem wound.
St. Anthony’s Wound Healing Center provides an outpatient program that works in conjunction with the patient's primary care physician, providing an essential service to the referring physician by specializing in the treatment of problem wounds. Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Wound Healing Center operates by appointment. The Wound Healing Center accepts referrals from physicians and also by patient self-referral.
Jeff Brummer, D.O. will serve as the Medical Director of the program. Dr. Brummer will be assisted by a team of experienced wound care physicians, including Dr. Jason McAllaster, D.O, Dr. Thomas Heischmidt, M.D., and Dr. James Flaig, D.O. Each physician will coordinate an overall care plan for each patient, working in partnership with the patient's referring physician. “We are excited to be able to provide this much-needed service to the physicians and people of this region,” said Tammy Probst, Wound Healing Center manager.
