Healthy Community 2011
St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in collaboration with local civic and service organizations conducted the “Healthy Community 2011” community health assessment that included residents of Effingham and Jasper Counties. The goal of this assessment was to determine the physical and emotional health needs of Effingham and Jasper county residents and develop strategies to address those needs. Recognizing the potential impact of services developed as a result of the health assessment, the Friends of St. Anthony’s generously contributed one-half of the needed funds for the project.

Health Assessment Process:
For the health assessment, PRC conducted a comprehensive, three-part assessment that included telephone interviews, targeted consumer focus groups, and the collection of secondary data. One thousand random telephone interviews with Effingham County residents and 400 with Jasper County residents were completed. The focus group participants included members of the public from key groups including area senior citizens, Hispanics and the underinsured/uninsured populations. Results from the telephone survey and the focus group discussions, along with other statistical data, were combined to determine the health needs of Effingham and Jasper county residents.
