St. Anthony’s offers a continuum of care from prenatal education to delivery to a Mother/Baby Home Care visit after you get home with your new baby.
Prior to delivery, St. Anthony’s Maternity Services staff can offer care to expectant mothers who are unsure if they are in labor. Often times during pregnancy, mothers are sent to St. Anthony’s to be evaluated for possible signs of true labor. St. Anthony’s has a triage room to monitor these expectant mothers. If they are found to be in labor, mothers are moved to a Labor/Delivery/Recovery room. But if they are not found to be in labor, they can return to their home after receiving treatment and being observed for a few hours.
When it comes time to deliver your baby, St. Anthony’s Maternity Services offers comfortable Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms with home-like furnishings and space for your loved ones, all with the advanced equipment and monitoring systems for the safety and well-being of you and your baby. For mothers who need to deliver their baby by cesarean section, St. Anthony’s has a surgical suite exclusively for c-sections located on the Maternity floor for the mother’s comfort and safety.
Following delivery, mothers can enjoy spending quality time with their newborn and family members in our private post-partum rooms, designed with mothers’ comfort, privacy, and safety in mind. Each room also has a private, wheelchair-accessible bathroom with sit-down shower.
When mothers need their rest, they can be assured that their infant is safe and well cared for in the infant nursery which is located adjacent to the nurses’ station and near the family waiting room. Security systems in place throughout the Maternity floor alert nursing staff if baby is taken to an unauthorized area. In addition, St. Anthony’s is designated as a Level II nursery, which means that babies born prematurely or babies born with special needs can be cared for in our nursery.
Going home with a new baby can sometimes be overwhelming for new parents. To make the transition easier and provide reassurance to the new family, St. Anthony’s offers a unique program that serves as an extension of the hospital stay. A Mother/Baby endowment fund, established by the Friends of St. Anthony’s, allows St. Anthony’s to provide each mother with a complimentary Mother/Baby Home Care visit from a registered nurse within a week of her discharge.
